چکیده

Abstract We investigate the effects of salt concentration on rheological properties dipeptide hydrogel fibres at liquid-liquid interfaces. The interfaces were subjected to large amplitude oscillatory dilation (LAOD) experiments across a range oscillation strains and frequencies. Lissajous plots pressure-strain used for characterizing viscoelastic identifying apparent yielding. show that key aspects response vary significantly with concentration. At low strain, independent concentration, curves an almost elliptical shape. As strain is increased, asymmetry in evidences non-linear response. departure from ellipse most obvious negative (at moderate high concentrations) suggestive strain-hardening compression. tilt towards diagonal elevated demonstrating are becoming increasingly elastic. However, increasing frequency has little systematic effect. infer addition leads development structure our observations elastic To fully capture behaviour, we suggest modification analysis calculate ratio S quantify degree non-linearities figures, so as better reveal presence instant strain-softening responses.

Interfacial Rheology of Gas/Liquid and Liquid/Liquid Interfaces

An interfacial shear rheometer for stressand strain-controlled measurements at liquid interfaces is outlined. Shear and dilational interfacial rheology of surfactant-stabilized droplets.

A new measurement method is suggested that is capable of probing the shear and dilational interfacial rheological responses of small droplets, those of size comparable to real emulsion applications. Freely suspended aqueous droplets containing surfactant and non-surface-active tracer particles are transported through a rectangular microchannel by the plane Poiseuille flow of the continuous oil ...

Blue phase liquid crystals stabilized by linear photo-polymerization

Stabilizing a photopolymer-embedded blue phase liquid crystal precursor with linearly polarized UV light is investigated experimentally. When the UV polarization axis is perpendicular to the stripe electrodes of an in-plane-switching cell, anisotropic polymer networks are formed through the linear photo-polymerization process and the electrostriction effect is suppressed. As a result, the measu...

Rheology of liquid crystalline polymers

Concepts which may be used in interpreting the complex rheology of liquid crystalline polymers are reviewed. Some of them are taken from the nematodynamics of low molecular weight liquid crystals as described by the Leslie—Ericksen theory, others are intrinsic to the viscoelasticity of ordinary polymers. Tentatively, these concepts are used to construct an explanation of the band texture which ...
